How to get there?

1. Hanoi - Phong Nha

# By Bus

There are some group bus transfer from Hanoi Old Quarter to Phong Nha and return. They depart at around 06:30 PM from Ha Noi. You can either book in person through your hotel in Hanoi, or travel agency. The price: VND 300,000/person.

Note: Most of the bus is the basic service, some bus is terrible. You should double-check it.

# By train

Trains are enjoyable transportation to travel to Phong Nha from Hanoi. You can sightsee more about this country along the way. A soft-sleeper cabin is the most comfortable option with only 4 people per cabin, allowing travelers to sit up or lie down. A ticket train is a good option and saving; you not only get to sleep after the day overloads activities but also help you refresh your health.

By plane

The plane is a way to help you to get to Phong Nha in the fastest. It just takes a 1 hour and 25-minute flight from Hanoi to Dong Hoi. However. You can book the flight ticket by a travel agency or directly on the web as Vietnam Airline, Bamboo Airway…

Note: you will have to book a transfer from Dong Hoi to Phong Nha by the cars, taxi...


2. Ninh Binh – Phong Nha

If you are in Ninh Binh, you can get the bus or the train to go to Phong Nha.

By Bus

Most of the bus pick up the traveller at the office bus in Tam Coc from 8:00 pm and arrival in Phong Nha about 4:00-5:00 am.

By Train

Ninh Binh is located on Hanoi to Phong Nha, so you can buy a ticket to get there.


3. Hue – Phong Nha

Hue is in central Vietnam and nearly Phong Nha. You can reach Phong Nha by bus, tour, the private car...


4. Da Nang / Hoi An – Phong Nha

By bus

There is some group bus to transfer from Da Nang / Hoi An to Phong Nha as Hung Thanh Bus, Camel Bus, Queen Bus…

  • Departure time from Hoi An: 01:00 – 01:30 PM
  • Departure time from Da Nang: 02:00 pm – 02:30 PM
  • Arrival time in Phong Nha: 09:00 – 09:30 PM


  • You will get to the bus station for 1-2 hours before departing for Phong Nha at 01:00 PM
  • This is an open bus so you can book a ticket to/from Phong Nha. The time leaves Phong Nha from 04:00 – 4:30 AM or 07:00 – 7:30 AM at the bus Office.
  • Some buses will change another bus from Hue – Phong Nha.

By Train

A train is a good option for transferring from Da Nang - to Phong Nha. But there is no train station in Hoi An. Certainly, you will need to book an additional transfer from Dong Hoi to Phong Nha as a taxi, private car...


5. Ho Chi Minh – Phong Nha

Ho Chi Minh is the biggest city in Southern Vietnam. Most travelers start the Vietnam trip from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh.

Outdoor activities

You can rent a cyc to explore local or cross the original Ho Chi Minh Trail. Bong Lai Valley is an interesting place. All you need is a bike and a map to explore this valley.
