Sabaidee! Welcome to Laos.

Modern-day Lan Xang, an ancient Lao kingdom founded by King FA NGUM in the 14th century, is where Laos gets its start. For three hundred years, Lan Xang was the dominant power in all of what is now Laos, including parts of modern-day Cambodia and Thailand. Laos was dominated by Siam (modern-day Thailand) from the late 18th century until the late 19th century, when it became part of French Indochina, capping off centuries of slow decline before French colonization. Currently, the border between Laos and Thailand is based on the terms established by the Franco-Siamese Treaty of 1907. After a six-hundred-year monarchy, the Communist Pathet Lao took power in 1975 and instituted a rigorous socialist state modeled after Vietnam's. Private industry and the loosening of restrictions governing foreign investment both began in 1988. Now, Laos is a strong developing country, with friendly people and a very unique culture.

You've been dreaming of a peaceful and beautiful nation, and Laos is it. Recall that the nicest things in life are the ones you've kept simple. Enjoy a sunset swim in the Mekong with local kids or witness the hallowed Buddhist practice of almsgiving in Luang Prabang's tree-lined streets. The country of Laos is more than a destination; it's a way of life, and we couldn't imagine being anywhere else.

The peninsula at the confluence of the Mekong and the Nam Khan Rivers is home to Luang Prabang, the former capital of the Lan Xang Kingdom — the Land of a Million Elephants — and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. It is one of the best-preserved ancient cities in Southeast Asia, with a rich and distinct artistic heritage and French colonial buildings.

The little town of Vang Vieng is surrounded by beautiful karst mountains, verdant woods, animist tribal communities, and magnificent caverns; the political capital of Vientiane is home to important landmarks like the That Luang Stupa, the largest and holiest stupa in Laos.

And this site Laos Tours will give the best itinerary for travelers who want to travel to Laos with unique experiences.
