Day 2: Bangkok City Tour

After breakfast, the guide will pick you up from the hotel. This tour of Bangkok's most prominent temples will immerse you in the city's rich history and spiritual legacy.  From the towering Grand Palace to the breathtaking Wat Pho and Wat Arun, this guided walking tour takes you through centuries of Thai art, culture, and religion.

Begin your day by seeing Thailand's renowned Grand Palace, a symbol of the royal family and an architectural marvel.  Wander around the beautiful temples, including the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), which houses one of Thailand's most holy Buddha images.  Admire the beautiful features of the palace's golden spires and murals, while your guide explains their historical significance.

Continue to Wat Pho, where you'll see the colossal 46-meter-long Reclining Buddha, covered in gold leaf.  This temple, also known as the birthplace of traditional Thai massage, is a must-see for its peaceful atmosphere and rich cultural past.

After that, cross the Chao Phraya River to visit Wat Arun, one of Bangkok's most recognizable monuments.  Wat Arun is known for its tall prang (spire) that is artistically embellished with multicolored porcelain and provides stunning views of the river and cityscape.  Climb the temple's steep steps to see the exquisite sculptures up close and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic vistas.

Our afternoon ends in Bangkok's Chinatown, which is one of the city's oldest areas. It is possible to buy almost anything you can think of in this chaotic labyrinth of narrow streets and busy sois (alleys), which are overrun with restaurants, stores, street markets, and food booths. You will also make a pit stop to try some of the most delicious food the city has to offer, such as odd snacks in a market, some of the best noodles in the city, or dessert. There is no need to bother eating in advance because you won't feel hungry at any point during the event. Throughout the course of the tour, vegetarian meal alternatives will be provided.

Overnight in Bangkok

Meals included: Breakfast | Lunch

Day 3: Bangkok- Ayutthaya

Ayutthaya was the capital of Siam during its golden age, and its temple ruins are a sight to behold.

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up for the drive to Wat Lokayasutha, which is the first stop in Ayutthaya, after traveling there in a luxurious and air-conditioned vehicle from Bangkok. This temple is famous for its enormous picture of a Buddha that is reclining because it is one of the few constructions that have been preserved here.

Your next stop will be at Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, which is located within the complex of the royal palace and was used by the royal family for religious ceremonies. It is widely acknowledged as Ayutthaya's most significant religious structure.

After that, you should go to Wat Mahathat Ayutthaya. It is said that the sacred relic of the Buddha was formerly kept within this temple, making it one of the oldest and most important in Ayutthaya's history. Take a moment to appreciate the iconic Buddha head that has been sculpted into the roots of a Bodhi tree.

After that, you will have a delicious lunch at a local Thai restaurant, where your guide will be available to provide recommendations on the regional delicacies served there.

Your journey should come to a close at the magnificent Wat Chaiwattanaram, which is located along the river. As you make your way through the gigantic grounds, don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for the captivating architectural style that was inspired by the Angkor Wat complex in Cambodia.

Day 4: Bangkok – Chiang Mai

Meet your driver after breakfast and check out for your transfer and flight to Chiang Mai.

Go on to Wat Suan Dok, which is just beyond the old city walls. King Keu Na of Lanna erected the temple in the 14th century to give important priests from Sukhothai a place to stay and for local monks to be dry when it rained.

As you drive toward Wat Phra That, one of Northern Thailand's most sacred temples, you will see beautiful vistas of Northern Thailand as you pass mountains and woods.

The temple was built in 1383 AD and can be reached by ascending 309 steps or taking a tram for those who do not want to walk. Before going back to your accommodation, take in the amazing view of the city from above.

Day 5: Chiang Mai - Mae Wang River - Karen Hill Tribe Village

Shortly after your hotel is picked up by van or traditional songthaew, you will be taken to a nearby market. Join your guide as you peruse the booths selling fresh produce and regional specialties, and feel the energy of the local market.

After we have perused the local market, we will have a 40-minute bamboo rafting trip down the serene Mae Wang River, a serene and picturesque way to take in the breathtaking scenery.  It is advised to dress in long pants and sleeves to ward off mosquitoes and the sun.

Get yourself to the trailhead after your bamboo rafting trip. About two hours into your hike, you will come across a hidden waterfall in the middle of lush rice fields and mixed woodlands. Have a picnic and splash around in the cold water at this peaceful location.

After lunch, hike for approximately two hours uphill through verdant forests and towering bamboo until you reach the Karen Hill Tribe Village. Indulge in a home-cooked meal prepared by the villagers while learning about their fascinating traditions. As the sun goes down, gather around the campfire or throw a little celebration to create lasting memories.

Day 7: Chiang Mai Cooking Class – Hanoi

Morning

The tour guide will pick you up at your Chiang Mai hotel. You can then pick what you want to cook from the menu. Get the items you need at a nearby market. You will be able to pick your fresh veggies and feed the chickens to get eggs for your meals. When you are done, go back to the classroom and get your cooking areas ready for the lesson.

Your professional English-speaking guide will show you how to make real Thai dishes like mango sticky rice, pad Thai, and curry. You will also learn how to make curry paste by hand! In the full-day class, you will use a coconut grater to make coconut milk for your own curry or Mango Sticky Rice. This will give you a chance to experience a traditional Thai way of life. Share a meal with your group to enjoy the fruits of your work. Before you go back to your lodging, swap stories while you eat each other's food.

Afternoon

Day 8: Hanoi City Tour

Explore the attractive city of Hanoi, known as the 'Paris of the East', with its yellow ochre colonial buildings, tree-lined boulevards, and picturesque lakes.

Begin by visiting Ho Chi Minh's House, a basic wooden structure in a peaceful environment where Ho Chi Minh lived and worked. Some of his possessions are on display, and visitors can climb the steps to see his bedroom.

Continue to the 6th-century Tran Quoc Pagoda, Hanoi's oldest pagoda, which is located on a small island in West Lake. Tour the 11th-century Taoist Quan Thanh Temple, which features a combination of imperial architectural styles and is accentuated by a spacious yard shaded by a giant banyan tree and a shrine with a famous bronze figure of Tran Vu, one of Taoism's primary deities.

In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Literature, Vietnam's first national university, which was erected in the late 11th century. The gorgeous temple is an example of well-preserved traditional Vietnamese architecture, and it appears on the reverse of the 100,000 Vietnamese dong banknote.

Tour the Hoa Lo Prison (formerly known as the "Hanoi Hilton"), which was used by the French from 1896 until 1954 to detain Vietnamese political prisoners before housing American POWs. While just a portion of the original complex remains, the displays offer a Vietnamese perspective through images and essays about the foreign countries involved in Vietnam's recent history.

Finish the day with an engaging water puppet show, a particularly northern Vietnamese art form claimed to have originated in the Red River Delta's flooded rice fields, when villagers entertained themselves by maneuvering puppets across the water. The play uses colorful wooden puppets to depict stories from Vietnamese folklore.

Return to the hotel for rest.

Overnight in Hanoi

Meals included: Breakfast | Lunch

Day 9: Hanoi – Ha Giang

After breakfast, we will pick you up at your hotel and say farewell to lively Hanoi before heading to Vietnam's far north, Ha Giang. We will make photo stops along the way as we pass through several of the breathtaking views. We will stop for lunch at a nearby restaurant before continuing our journey to Ha Giang.

Afternoon, we will go to Thon Tha Village. The village is located in Phuong Do Commune, less than ten kilometers from the northern province of Ha Giang. It has a small population of approximately 550 people. The neighborhood consists of only 90 residences, all of which are traditional stilt houses made of wood and bamboo with palm-thatched roofs. Thon Tha Village is probably one of the best examples of provincial, traditional living.

Overnight in Ha Giang

Meals included: Breakfast | Dinner

Day 10: Ha Giang – Dong Van

Heaven Gate, Twin Mountain, Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Vuong Palace, and Dong Van are all amazing places to visit. We'll be driving 150 kilometers and walking for roughly an hour today. During the journey, you will get the opportunity to see and interact with the Mong people. We will stop at numerous lovely sites along the journey to take pictures and enjoy the gorgeous scenery.

Heaven's Gate, which stands 1500 meters high, provides a beautiful perspective above the sky. You can also see the famous twin mountains in Quan Ba. Later, we shall have lunch at a little restaurant in Yen Minh.

After lunch, we'll drive south to Ha Giang to see the Vuong Palace, which the Mong erected for their king. It previously belonged to the "King of the H'mong Tribe" and was built by French and Chinese architects, resulting in an unusual blend of styles. The palace gained a bad reputation for having been used in the past to hide opium and firearms, but it was demolished in the 1950s. We'll stop 15 kilometers west of Dong Van to view the palace.

Our ultimate goal for the day is Dong Van, where we should arrive by 5 p.m. You'll sleep in a hotel and eat dinner there. Dong Van is a tranquil village where you may walk about and enjoy the little market in the old section.

Overnight in Dong Van

Meals included: Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner

Day 11: Dong Van – Du Gia

After breakfast, we will be driving through the Dong Van Geopark to explore the scenic beauty of Vietnam. Our journey will take us to the most beautiful pass in Vietnam, the Ma Pi Leng Pass, which is often considered the “king” of all passes in the country. After reaching the top of the pass, we will start our drive along the 20 km-long Happiness Road, which offers a romantic atmosphere and is handcrafted by the local people.

Exiting Ma Pi Leng, we will spend 1,5 hours walking from the Young Volunteers Monument in Ma Pi Leng Pass, crossing the Death Cliff and the White Cliff to Panorama. During the route, we will be able to admire the views and the lifestyle of the locals up close.

After having lunch in Mau Due, we will start our journey to Du Gia. Along the ride, we can see the rice paddies of the Tay, hiding inside layers of the mountain mist. This place offers a tranquil atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle and into the embrace of Mother Nature. At about 4.00 pm, we will settle down and prepare a swimsuit for the trip to visit the waterfall here.

Even though this route is short, we can still enjoy the stunning splendor of the huge mountains. If we look to the side of the chasm, we will be drawn in by the sight of the mountain bathing in the sun and the mist. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. The driver will take you back around 3:30 to get a limousine bus to Hanoi.

Day 13: Hanoi – Halong Bay

Breakfast is the best way to start the day, so make it enjoyable and nutritious. Your tour guide will then pick you up from your accommodation in the Hanoi Old Quarter at 8:00 am to take you to Quang Ninh province and Halong Bay. Take 15 to 20 minutes to relax before getting ready for one of your life's greatest adventures.

At 12:30, we will arrive at the harbor, where you can board the boat and begin your voyage with our amiable, knowledgeable, and skilled crew.

The lunch will be served to you as the boat travels on to our destination, passing by an almost unlimited number of islands and islets. Unquestionably a genuinely wonderful encounter.

You can head to the upper deck after your excellent meal to take in Halong Bay's grandeur in all of its natural, pure, magical, and beautiful manifestations.

Are you all set to join the activity? Let's kayak for an hour around the region of the floating community. If you don't like kayaking, don't worry, you can also swim.

When the time is up, you'll head back to the boat for a fun sundown party on the sundeck. Here, you may mingle with other tourists while listening to relaxing music and taking in the breathtaking splendor of Halong Bay.

Yes, this day has been great. There is no better way to cap it off than by indulging in a sumptuous dinner prepared by our chef. After that, you are free to do whatever you wish with your time, such as sing or just unwind.

Day 14: Halong Bay – Hanoi – Hoi An

Get up early and join us for a practice of Tai Chi on the terrace deck. This will help you relax your mind and muscles as you watch the first rays of sunlight strike the sea. The dining room is stocked with beverages such as coffee, tea, and pastries, perfect for starting the day off well.

After breakfast, you'll be prepared to embark on the day's main adventure: exploring the Cave. That is one of the most stunning and alluring caves in Halong Bay; it is a remarkable destination. Your knowledgeable tour guide will tell you everything there is to know about it.

Proceed with your cruise across the Bay, which is characterized by its limestone rocks and several little islands. An ever-evolving background for photography can be found in the form of grottoes and little beaches that are abandoned and were sculpted out by wind and sea. Not to mention the mental pictures of ancient junks or basketboats floating off in the distance on glistening waters.

Later, as you have a delicious lunch, we'll cruise back to the pier. After that, it will be time to disembark and bid the boat crew farewell. You will be transferred back to your accommodation in Ha Noi after being dropped off at the dock.

A private car will pick you up in Hanoi and take you to the airport to catch the flight to Da Nang. Another driver will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to the hotel in Hoi An.

Day 16: Hoi An – Hue

You will be taken from your hotel in Hoi An to your hotel in Hue by private car in the morning. Hue was the imperial city of the Nguyen Lords from the 17th to the 19th century. It's beautiful emperors' tombs, old pagodas, and the ruins of the Citadel all add to its unquestionable regal allure.

Visit the Imperial Citadel, which is in the middle of the Complex of Hue Monuments and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walk through the tall main gate and enjoy the beautiful buildings and gardens while your guide tells you about the drama and intrigue that surrounded the former royal court. Even though it was bombarded a lot during the Vietnam War, some parts are still in great shape, and others are being meticulously repaired.

You can take a short trip to the Royal Antique Museum once you leave the citadel. You can visit one of two royal tombs:

(1) The Tu Duc Royal Tomb is the most spectacular of all the royal mausoleums. Emperor Tu Duc built it between 1864 and 1867. Tu Duc had 104 wives and many concubines, yet he did not leave any heirs to the throne. There is a tomb in the complex, along with pavilions and temples, but no one knows exactly where Tu Duc was buried because all 200 of the servants who buried the monarch were executed to keep grave robbers from finding out where he was buried.

(2) The Khai Dinh Royal Tomb has a lot of different styles of building that show off both Eastern and Western art. The Khai Dinh Royal Tomb is smaller than many of the other tombs, but it is more colorful. The side walls going up to the tomb are made up of the biggest dragons in the country. The tomb's outside is blackened concrete, and the inside is a colorful mosaic. The main building is big and has murals depicting the Four Seasons, Eight Precious Objects, and Eight Fairies on the walls.

Go back to your hotel after visiting the tomb.

Overnight in Hue

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 17: Hue – Ho Chi Minh

Morning

You will go on a half-day tour of Hue to learn more about this beautiful city. Take a dragon boat to the first place, Thien Mu Pagoda (Heaven Fairy Lady Pagoda), which is the oldest pagoda in Hue City. The morning boat ride to the pagoda will be a great way to start the trip. The Perfume River's fresh air will make you feel very good. Visit The Citadel. The Nguyen Dynasty, Vietnam's last royal family, lived in the Imperial City. After the Citadel, our car will take you to the Dong Ba market, which is Hue's busiest and has a lot of different foods and goods. You can see how people in the area buy and sell things here. This is also a chance to buy gifts for your family and friends.

Afternoon

Transfer to the airport for a short flight to Ho Chi Minh, previously known as Saigon. The driver will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. And this is free time to explore Ho Chi Minh in your own way.

Day 18: Ho Chi Minh – Mekong Delta

Morning

After breakfast, your guide and driver will bring you to Ben Tre Town in the Mekong Delta, which is renowned for its expansive rice fields, numerous rivers, and magnificent scenery. This region, known as the "rice bowl" of Vietnam, provides the majority of the country's fruit, rice, sugar cane, and coconuts.

After a two-hour journey through verdant farmland, you will arrive in Ben Tre, where you will go on a motorized boat tour through the coconut forest's small channels. During the boat voyage, you will stop at local cottage enterprises to observe how the craft has been passed down through the centuries.

Take a stroll through the village lanes, stopping at local homes to sample fresh fruits and honey tea while hearing a Tai Tu music performance. Continue to another workshop where coconut candies and a variety of coconut husk and fiber products are manufactured by hand.

Take a small sampan through palm-fringed back canals, sailing calmly over secluded rivers surrounded by a vast array of tropical vegetation. The tranquil, rural location is a refreshing and therapeutic escape from the frantic bustle of HCM City, which appears to be in the distance.

Enjoy meeting locals while riding at the back of a Motor Cart (xe lôi) around rural hamlets, rice fields, coconut trees, and luscious orchard farms.

Afternoon

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will return to Ben Tre town and continue driving through the Mekong's fields and towns to Can Tho city, stopping if time allows at the Vinh Trang Pagoda.

Evening

Spend the night how you please. Explore the Can Tho night market on your own and sample the local cuisine. The market streets are filled with dozens of lively food vendors serving grilled meats and tofu on skewers, as well as grilled rice paper... etc.

Overnight in Can Tho

Day 19: Mekong Delta – Ho Chi Minh

Let's get up early to explore a unique market. The Cai Rang floating market is the largest wholesale floating market in the Mekong region. Hundreds of small boats speed through the water as vendors peddle their items at the market. Float through the network of boats to observe how the locals trade fruits and vegetables and to learn more about the floating marketing culture and boat life. Following that, you will be served a delicious local breakfast (rice noodle soup) on the boat, just as the locals do. You will also get the opportunity to stop at a local boat to sample some of the season's luscious fruit.

Upon leaving the market, continue your boat ride along tiny canals to a traditional rice noodle factory where you can observe how the locals create rice noodles and have a "rice noodle pizza" made from scratch.

The lunch will be served at the local restaurant, then return to Ho Chi Minh.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh

Meals included: Breakfast | Lunch

Day 20: Ho Chi Minh – Cu Chi Tunnel

Morning

After breakfast, you will be greeted by your guide and driven to Cu Chi, a small village located northwest of Ho Chi Minh City known for its network of subterranean tunnels that served as a safe haven and successful infiltration route for the Viet Cong during the closing stages of the Vietnam War.

Upon arrival, you will view a brief instructional movie before visiting the tunnels, the most renowned battlegrounds of the period. It is thought that the concealed network of Viet Cong tunnels spanned "hundreds of miles" in total length and contained living quarters, storage areas, temporary hospitals, kitchens, etc. Although the system was initially somewhat narrow, some sections have been enlarged for tourists, and you have the option to explore them.

Please note that these tunnels will be hot and claustrophobic, so if you want to watch from above ground, that is an option.

Cassava, the staple diet of the Viet Cong soldiers, is served alongside a tart tea. After exploring the Cu Chi Tunnels, return to the city with lunch at the local restaurant on the way.

Afternoon

Spend the remainder of the day touring Ho Chi Minh City's major attractions. The Notre Dame Cathedral, the ornate City Hall (Hotel De Ville), the old Opera House, the historic Rex Hotel, the Central Post Office, renowned for its architecture, and Ben Thanh Market, where vendors display a vast array of goods and handicrafts, appealing to every taste, are particularly recommended.

Later, visit the Reunification Palace and the War Remnants Museum for a somber and enlightening look at Vietnam's military history and violent past.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh

Day 21: Departure

Visa

1. Vietnam

If you need a visa for Vietnam, you need to get one before your trip. You can't get one immediately when you get there because it takes processing time. If you are going to enter Vietnam through a land border, you will need to apply for a regular Vietnam visa. The Vietnam E-Visa is not accepted at many of the land borders we cross. You can apply for the e-visa to visit Vietnam through the website:

https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/trang-chu-ttdt. Entry to Vietnam with an eVisa is supported at 13 airports, 16 land borders, and 13 seaports - details can be found here

2. Thailand

Most people from most countries do not need a visa to visit Thailand for 30 days or less, but if you do, you can get one when you get to Bangkok Airport. You will need to get a vacation visa ahead of time if you plan to stay in Thailand for more than 30 days. When you enter Thailand by land, you can only get a tourist visa good for 15 days.

New requirement to enter Thailand – starting May 1, 2025

Starting on this date, all foreign travellers must complete the Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) at least 3 days before their arrival. Review the requirements and complete the form at: http://tdac.immigration.go.th

Travel Insurance

Your next trip is going to be exciting, and while you hope nothing bad happens, it is best to be ready just in case. When you book your trip, we highly advise that you get travel insurance. It is important to make sure you are properly protected in case of a medical disaster, a flight cancellation, a lost suitcase, or something else that you can not plan for.

What to Take

What you need to bring depends on the trip you choose and the countries or regions you plan to visit. Since you have to carry your bags, we suggest that you pack as little as possible. As a general rule, we try to make sure you don't have to walk with your bags for more than 15 to 20 minutes. This is why we suggest keeping the weight of your bags between 10-15kg/22-30lb. On Amazing trips, you shouldn't bring a suitcase. Most travelers bring a small to medium-sized backpack or rolling bag (please, no XXL ones!) because they need to fit under the beds on sleeper trains. You will also need a day pack or bag to carry water, cameras, and other electronics like iPods and cell phones.

Laundry

Some of our hotels have laundry rooms that cost extra. There will be times when you want to or have to do your own laundry, so we recommend that you bring soap that doesn't harm the environment and doesn't build up in the water.

Money exchange

Since currency exchange rates in Asia change often, you should check www.xe.com every day for the most up-to-date rates. There are a lot of ATMs that take both Visa and Mastercard, but most of them are only in big cities. Most transactions are done with US dollars, and we recommend that you bring a small USD unmarked note. Some shops will use credit cards, but there may be a 2-4% fee for the transaction.

Tipping

As a general rule, people in Asia leave tips for waiters and other service workers, usually around 10% of the bill. Tipping is expected but not required and demonstrates gratitude to tour guides. Although it may not be conventional to you, it is important to your travel companions. In numerous places during the journey, we can tip our local guides or drivers. You can do this alone, or your tour designer will offer to collect and tip in groups. Ask your tour designer for particular recommendations based on conditions and culture for tipping drivers and local guides, which range from $1.5 to $3.5 USD per person each day depending on quality and length of service.
